The Festival

The Human Rights International Film Festival was created on the understanding of two basic premises. The audiovisual tool is the most efficient to raise the awareness of the largest common denominator on Human Rights and to defending Human Rights across the world starts first, here for us in France. 

Inform, alert and incite into action.

The news shows us that we need to stay vigilant at home and that you cannot take for granted your rights, even in a democracy. There’s a saying that the shuffling of slippers is sometimes more to be feared than the clomping of boots, indifference is in fact the main threat. This festival’s mission is situated at that point: to serve as a platform for promotion of new films which have as their objective to inform, alert and whenever possible, to incite action.

The most important cultural manifestation on Human Rights in France.

The FIFDH has been, for the last 7 years, with over 80 projections, the most important cultural manifestation on the theme of Human Rights in France. Each year, we offer directors the world over the opportunity to present their work and to meet the public. From over 500 films that have been watched each year, we retain close to thirty works of which the majority will be shown as avant-première. We also invite those who work and think directly about human rights on a daily basis.
